What Happened to Sleeping All Day?
Not that this has anything to do with it, but ever since I switched jobs, I haven't spent a single weekend just lying around in bed. I haven't been productive either, I'm just not getting that quality 15 hours of sleep I need. I did manage to spend some quality time with everyone... relatives and complete strangers, elementary-middle-high school and college chums, gays and straights, and all the races. If this was the girl scouts, I would have earned my Social Butterfly patch by now.
Here's how the weekend went...
Saturday
- Lunch at Wolfgang Puck Express (that I didn't even know existed in Houston until this weekend)
- Watched Tim Burton's Corpse Bride (fantastic stop-motion animation, of course, but a little iffy on the storyline)
- Bought crap at Walmart (note to boys: "Are those roach baits effective?" is not a good pick up line. "How about I call you and you pick me up so we can hang out" doesn't make you look any better.)
- Bought my brother some snazzy shoes from DSW (you will be pimpin' in these, Brian)
- Went to The Flying Saucer after dinner (yes I actually had a drink)
- Got called to The Lounge for an impromptu girls' night (I had another drink - shock and horror)
Sunday
- Was summoned to a birthday brunch at Farrago's for a friend of a friend (two Asian chicks and 11 gays at a table - sounds like a twisted fairy tale huh?)
- Nixed plans to see another movie to go home and do some chores but passed out instead (it's not cool to eat stuffed french toast and chocolate cake first thing in the morning)
- Showered properly before going to Sake Lounge for a quick bite (not really a big fan of their prices)
- Watched Hapgood at the Alley Theater (still passing for a student - hey it's a $30 discount)
- Caught up on a little TV before crawling into bed in the wee hours of the morning
Okay, so watching the Astros win 2 games is noticeably absent from the list, but in my defense, they have lost the last couple of games that I have watched on TV so I didn't want to jinx them again. Besides, it's not as much fun to watch if you're not at the game, in a sports bar, or just with a big group. I still want them to win though. Biggio has been my favorite player since elementary school when we used to get cheap tickets for getting straight A's. He deserves a championship on loyalty alone!
I would get more worked up about it, but I'm still recovering from the weekend...

The movie was off a little indeed. Sorry the sushi fest isn't happening soon enough.
