If a person writes a blog and there is no one around to read it... does it still have a point?

Picture This

To give everyone a break from my annoying posts, here are some random vacation pictures I took of things that I thought were fascinating...

McDonalds Taiwan Posted by Picasa

Because Taiwan is such a small island, trash is a pretty big problem. They've basically mandated that everything be sorted and recycled whenever possible. This isn't your typical newspaper, aluminum can kind of recycling... everywhere you go, you have to actually use your brain to figure out which of the 15,000 different trash containers you can throw your stuff into. Even at McDonalds... plastic cap on the McFlurry goes here... but then the napkin goes here... but not the paper french fry bag... what? I don't think I like this game anymore...

Walk Posted by Picasa

Another thing they have in Taiwan (and China) that should be instituted here is the informative traffic lights/walk signs. Both the traffic lights and the pedestrian signs count down the number of seconds you have before the light changes from green to yellow to red. I don't know why we haven't adopted this system here because they even have these things in the very remote Southern areas of China. Come on, don't tell me it's a cost issue... I've seen them replace those darn walk signs downtown a million times. Maybe we just want to have the option to use the "I didn't know it was a short light" excuse when the officer pulls us over.

Appetizing... Posted by Picasa

Just in case anyone thought I was exaggerating when I said that China Airlines had horrible airplane food, I give you my evidence. Mmmm... yummy, right? Just imagine having something like this shoved in front of your face every 4 hours for 24 hours. Bonus points if you can guess what they tried to call this dish.

i was just gonna say that!

they also talk to you... "please walk" for those that are vision impaired...and yet, even though we have those counters, i don't know that anyone actually pays attention to them...

i think that dish is Curry Chicken...as they always seem to have that on the pan-asian flights...i don't know why it's green though...

Do they have the counters for the traffic lights too? I have yet to see those anywhere outside of China.

I don't know if there is any real meat in that lovely entree, but they didn't label it as any type of poultry. Have another guess or should I just tell you? :)

Here is what their website says:
"China Airlines prides itself in offering world-class cuisine designed by its professional chefs. Its award-winning menu is changed frequently to match routes and seasons."
My guess is that it's some sort of beef with mashed potatoes, although it could be the Russian in me talking. The worst thing about this meal is how the mush of two different and completely gross colors just kind of blends and hangs off the the side of the container. The more I look at it the sicker I get.

I forgot to post the answer... the lovely dish was called beef stew. I have no idea what that green stuff was supposed to be or how it was supposed to mix with the beef... bon appetit.
