The Ex-Files

Let me set up my question by stating two things that I think are true:

1) There sure are a lot of complete jerks out there (guys and girls)
2) The majority of people end up with someone eventually - the people you meet who stay single their entire lives are never jerks

If these two conditions are true, what would be the explanation? Is it:

a) There actually is a perfect match for everyone out there - so there is another psycho that matches the psycho you met
b) Jerks will eventually learn the error of their ways and change - implying that you just got to date them when they were in their asshole phase (yippee)
c) Jerks know how to pretend that they are normal just well enough and just long enough to hook an unsuspecting victim when it's time to settle down and then bet that their mates will be too tired to get a divorce when they find out the truth later

One thing I fear is a fact - the longer I stay single... the more likely it is that I will end up as one of those poor unfortunate victims stuck in c.

I guess the truth is out there...
